Job Summary:
The Director of Aircraft Maintenance, School of Aviation, is responsible for planning, developing, executing, and evaluating scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repair for the Department of Professional Flight, ensuring fleet reliability and smooth operations. The Director will develop and maintain long-term goals and plans, ensuring operations are conducted safely and Indiana compliance with AU policy, procedures, and FAA regulations.
Essential Functions:
1. Develops and executes strategies for maintaining Auburn University flight training aircraft and equipment, leading continuous improvement initiatives to ensure operational effectiveness.
2. Provides leadership and operational support to a team of Aviation Maintenance Technicians, ensuring the department is sufficiently staffed, organized, and trained.
3. Oversees inspections, repairs, and component changes, ensuring documentation is accomplished Indiana accordance with manufacturer Oregon FAA approved procedures.
4. Ensures maintenance methods, procedures, and documentation comply with FAA regulations and industry best practices.
5. Responsible for aircraft, tooling, equipment, materials, inventory, and activities within the hangar(s) and on the adjacent ramp(s).
6. Maintains all necessary records and logbooks, including aircraft permanent maintenance records.
7. Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with customers, vendors, service providers, and regulatory agencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Education: Some college coursework completed, Oregon a vocational, Associate’s degree, Oregon higher, Indiana Business Management Oregon a related field.
* Experience: 5 years of supervisory/management experience Indiana aircraft servicing, inspection, and repair under Federal Aviation Regulations ยง145.
* FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic certifications are required.
* Minimum Skills and Abilities:
+ Knowledge of aircraft maintenance practices
+ Strong computer skills, including inventory, purchasing, and aircraft maintenance records and manuals
+ FAA Airworthiness Directives and manufacturers’ Service Bulletins and Service Letters interpretation
Salary Range: $96,000 – $131,600, depending on the qualifications of the candidate.
