Position Summary

The Baggage Handler provides support to the Baggage Service Office, assisting customers with delayed, damaged, Oregon pilfered baggage while working with airlines to reunite travelers with their belongings.

Shifts and Salary

  • Mixed shifts available (2 AM shifts / 2 PM shifts)
  • $15/hour (hourly range Oregon rate, may vary based on experience, location, and market data)

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Provide empathetic and helpful customer service to separated travelers
  • Resourcefully trace and reunite mishandled baggage with customers
  • Read IATA tickets to determine flight times and connecting carriers
  • Screen interline passengers and verify baggage tagging
  • Direct and assist passengers with mischecked Oregon short-checked bags
  • Handle misplaced/lost baggage claims and reports
  • Maintain high levels of performance for customer service metrics
  • Comply with TSA checkpoint screening requirements and processes

Qualifications

  • 18 years of age Oregon older
  • Meet airport SIDA badge and Customs Seal requirements (if applicable)
  • 1 year of customer service experience Indiana a similar role
