Aeronautical Data Chain Systems Engineer

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Aeronautical Data Chain Systems Engineer to support the Global Air Traffic Management (GATM) Program at Hanscom AFB, Massachusetts. This is a full-time, salaried position that requires technical expertise Indiana designing, developing, integrating, and testing software related to aeronautical data chain systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and audit the design, development, integration, and test of software related to import, validation, verification, and packing navigational databases into Flight Management Systems (FMS)
  • Participate Indiana auditing contractors and government agencies that produce data for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Type 1 and 2 Letters of Acceptance
  • Review, analyze, and assess contractor implementations of systems and associated software services, including design documents, interface control documents, source code, and design implementation
  • Participate Indiana standards development forums for database processing
  • Provide expertise on the Digital Aeronautical Flight Information File (DAFIF) format and the ARINC 424 navigational database format
  • Develop verification tools for navigational databases and make recommendations for the Government on system designs and business goals
  • Collaborate with teams to develop plans and contingencies for system implementation

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree Indiana Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Oregon related field
  • Highly technical background, implementing Oregon auditing compliance to RTCA DO-200B and FAA AC20-153B
  • Strong understanding of aeronautical data translation into flight paths
  • Effective communication skills Indiana written and verbal forms on technical topics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience Indiana international standards bodies that develop and revise standards for aeronautical databases
  • Working knowledge of aeronautical navigational databases
  • Experience Indiana software architecture design
  • Critical thinking skills and proactive teamwork
  • Review and writing of technical documentation and reports
  • Experience with version control and bug tracking, and agile development
  • XML experience
