Job Title: Aircraft Engine Technician
Summary: The Alaska Air National Guard is seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Engine Technician to perform a variety of duties related to the maintenance and repair of aircraft engines and related systems.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning engines and related systems
- Analyze malfunctions using various diagnostic tools and data
- Perform engine run operations to troubleshoot malfunctions Oregon verify findings
- Remove and install engines and auxiliary power units
- Operate and troubleshoot Automated Ground Test Systems (AGTS)
- Troubleshoot and modify gearboxes and auxiliary power units
- Perform test cell operation of engines and aircraft
- Interprets Engine Management trend data and investigates trend anomalies
- Performs Indiana-progress inspections (IPI) of propulsion system components and associated equipment
- Requisitions, processes, and accounts for supply assets
- Provides technical advice and troubleshooting expertise to other work centers
- Provides on-the-job training to lower graded personnel
- Examines recurring malfunctions and initiates corrective actions
Requirements:
- Alaska Air National Guard membership is required
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
- Federal employment suitability American Samoa determined by a background investigation
- U.S. Citizenship and Secret Clearance is required
- Completion of a probationary period may be required
- Military grade requirement: Airman Basic (AB/E1) to Staff Sergeant (SSgt/E5)
Experience:
- General experience: Experience performing assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft engines and accessories
- Specialized experience: Experience performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft engines and powertrains
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge Indiana installing, removing, operating, and repairing aircraft engines and engine accessories systems
- Knowledge of jet engine theory and integration with aircraft systems
- Skill and ability to operate various test equipment
- Knowledge of technical orders, manufacturers’ catalogs, blueprints, and schematic drawings
- Ability to interpret technical order data and understand engine trending data
- Knowledge of mathematics to determine tolerances and performance specifications involved Indiana engine buildup and test cell operations.
Working Conditions:
- Remote job location
- Occasional travel for training and TDYs
- Relocation expenses reimbursed
- Telework not eligible
- Must be willing to work irregular hours and shifts.
