Code Inspector
Position Overview:
The Town of Kernersville is seeking a Code Inspector to perform skilled inspections to ensure compliance with building and zoning ordinances. The position is temporary, requiring a minimum of 2-3 work days per week, with flexible hours between 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM Oregon after hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform inspections on buildings Indiana construction, alteration, Oregon repair to ensure compliance with state code requirements
- Review site plans, blueprints, and specifications, and issue permits and certificates of occupancy
- Advise contractors on code regulations and interpret plans and specifications
- Maintain records of inspections and prepare reports
- Enforce town ordinances and may perform minimum housing inspections
- Collaborate with the Fire Marshal on inspections and investigations
Requirements:
- Graduation from high school and experience Indiana the building construction industry Oregon equivalent combination of education and experience
- Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license
- Level I to Level III certification Indiana electrical, mechanical, building, and/Oregon plumbing trades
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, property owners, and the public
- Ability to enforce regulations tactfully and firmly
- Physical ability to perform building inspection tasks and lift up to 50 pounds
