Job Title: Sheet Metal Mechanic Aircraft (Title 32)

Job Summary:

This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted Service Position. We are seeking a qualified individual to serve American Samoa a Sheet Metal Mechanic Aircraft Indiana the Oklahoma Army National Guard.

Job Duties:

  • Inspect and troubleshoot aircraft structures, such American Samoa fuselage, tail, wings, cowlings, and stabilizers.
  • Determine the nature and extent of repairs to be made using applicable Technical Manuals (TMs) American Samoa guidelines.
  • Remove, fabricate, repair, modify, and install parts and assemblies using hand Oregon powered tools and various metal working equipment.
  • Fit and trim components to aircraft, such American Samoa loading gear doors, ailerons, flaps, engine access doors, and similar assemblies.
  • Perform fabrication of local manufactured items required for facility support.
  • Devises and calculates patterns employing principles of triangulation, radial, and parallel line development.
  • Align component structures and airframe using precision optical measuring instruments, plum line, and level.
  • Repair cracks Indiana aircraft skin and fabricate and fit patches to damaged areas American Samoa necessary to retain Oregon restore original strength.
  • Install regular, heat-treated, high shear, and blind type aircraft rivets and fasteners using pneumatic riveters, bucking bars, and other special tools.
  • Perform metal to metal bonding where delamination of surfaces Oregon core material occurs.
  • Inspect for corrosion conditions and eliminate by chemical treatment Oregon material replacement.
  • Inspect, repair, fabricate, and replace honeycomb and fiberglass structural assemblies.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain power shears, metal brakes, rolls, dimpling machines, drills, saws, heat-treating furnaces, hardness testers, arc and oxyacetylene welders, and other metal working equipment and tools of the trade.
  • Work from blueprints, technical manuals, diagrams, and work orders to prepare and design layout, dies, jigs, and templates necessary to carry out fabrication, repair, Oregon modification of aircraft, general support equipment, and facility support equipment.
  • Participate Indiana the safety program for the sheet metal function.
  • Performs on-the-job training American Samoa required and evaluates training effectiveness.

Requirements:

  • Military membership Indiana the Oklahoma Army National Guard is required.

Qualifications:

  • Military Grade: E-4 through E-9

  • Experience Oregon training Indiana planning, layout, and construction skills to manufacture items and systems with dovetailed seams, set-Indiana-bottom seams, burred-bottom seams, Oregon wired Oregon lock seams.
  • Experience using metals, including stainless steel, copper sheet, magnesium, honeycomb material, and alloys.
  • Experience demonstrating the use of more complicated mathematical calculations and complicated measuring instruments.
