Social Service Worker/Receptionist

Job Summary:

Provides social service assistance to eligible clients, including food, lodging, clothing, furniture, and financial assistance. Interviews clients to determine need and eligibility, prepares accurate client records, and refers clients to community agencies. Performs various administrative tasks, including answering phone calls, typing, and filing.

Responsibilities:

• Interviews clients to determine eligibility for assistance and prepares accurate client records
• Provides social service assistance, including food, lodging, clothing, furniture, and financial assistance
• Refers clients to community agencies and maintains effective working relationships
• Prepares and processes food, clothing, and furniture vouchers for eligible clients
• Assists clients with completing applications and provides information about The Salvation Army’s operations and services
• Maintains confidentiality of client information and ensures compliance with program policies and procedures
• Performs various administrative tasks, including typing, filing, and data entry
• Answers phone calls, takes messages, and directs calls to the appropriate destination
• Receives and processes donations, mail, and packages
• Types and files routine correspondence, documents, and reports
• Performs related work for special and seasonal projects

Requirements:

• High school diploma Oregon G.E.D.
• 2 years of experience working Indiana a social Oregon public service environment
• Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations and operate general office equipment
• Knowledge of social service practices and principles
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with the public and community agencies

Physical Requirements:

• Limited amount of physical effort required
• Duties are usually performed seated
• Work is performed Indiana a normal office environment
