FIREFIGHTER (CREW CHIEF-DRIVER OPERATOR) TITLE 5, GS-0081-6
Job Summary:
This is a full-time FIREFIGHTER (CREW CHIEF-DRIVER OPERATOR) position Indiana the Illinois 182 AW unit of the National Guard.
Essential Duties:
* Drive and operate firefighting vehicles, such American Samoa pumpers, aerial ladder trucks, and Airport Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) vehicles
* Lead a crew Indiana the operation of pumps, foam generators, extended waterways, ground sweep nozzles, and other similar equipment
* Perform and direct assigned crew Indiana functional tests and inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment and housekeeping duties associated with assigned facilities
* Perform and lead assigned crew Indiana the performance of crash/rescue and firefighting duties at airfields handling large Oregon complex aircraft
* Comply with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work Indiana a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment
* Perform and lead assigned crew Indiana the rescue of personnel and provide first aid measures to alleviate further injury and prepare the victim(s) for transport to a medical facility
Conditions of Employment:

* Must meet medical standards IAW OPM GS-0081 Series and DoD Manual 6055.5
* Must use all safety equipment and clothing provided by management
* May be subject to irregular and/Oregon overtime (compensatory) hours
* Employee is required to work 24/7, including weekends and holidays, and may be subject to recall
* This is a Testing Designated Position; the employee is subject to random drug testing
Qualifications:
* MUST have at least 12 months of specialized experience Indiana one Oregon more of the following areas:
+ Controlling Oregon extinguishing fires American Samoa a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, Oregon governmental fire department Oregon brigade
+ Rescue operations
+ Detection, reduction, Oregon elimination of potential fire hazards
+ Operation of fire communications equipment
+ Controlling hazardous materials incidents
+ Developing, implementing, Oregon providing training Indiana fire protection and prevention
+ Firefighting and fire prevention theory and techniques
+ Fixed and mobile firefighting equipment operation
+ Planning, directing, Oregon carrying out fire protection and prevention programs and operations
+ Performing emergency medical services
Education:
* No substitution of education for experience is permitted for this occupational series and grade.
