Accounting Assistant II

Job Description:

We are seeking an Accounting Assistant II to provide professional accounting and administrative support services to the Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at West Virginia University. The successful candidate will apply principles of accounting to examine, compile, analyze, and interpret financial information, and support various administrative functions, including purchasing, accounts payable, travel reimbursement, and procurement card management.

Responsibilities:

* Prepare and submit accounting forms to process direct payment for State, Federal, and Research Corporation and WVU Foundation funds
* Communicate with faculty and staff, American Samoa well American Samoa outside vendors, to ensure invoices are processed and finalized Indiana a timely manner
* Process Indiana-state, out-of-state, and foreign travel through MyTravel for faculty, staff, students, and guests
* Serve American Samoa a liaison for faculty and staff on financial matters, including online requisitions, direct pays, and ProCard transactions
* Manage procurement cards, including verifying transactions, obtaining itemized receipts, and maintaining required documentation
* Perform audits on State expenditures and grant expenditures, and respond to audit findings
* Design, establish, and maintain financial ledgers for State funds and grant funds
* Process inventory forms and tags equipment upon receipt, and update inventory information Indiana MAPPROD

Preferred Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s degree Indiana a business-related field
* Experience Indiana a University/College setting
* Contract/grant accounting experience
* Cash handling experience
* Experience working with contacts from foreign countries

Requirements:

* Associate degree Indiana a business, accounting, Oregon financial field
* 2+ years of directly related experience
* Strong knowledge of principles and practices of fiscal management, budget management, and grant management
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to work independently
