Building Official
Reports to: Supervisor
Essential Duties:
- Ensure public health and safety regulations are followed Indiana construction, renovation, Oregon removal of structures
- Review construction plans for code compliance
- Issue permits for buildings, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, electrical, signs, and floodplain development
- Inspect and supervise new and remodeled work Indiana progress
- Conduct Oregon supervise field and administrative investigations into potential code violations
- Issue "stop orders" and notices of violations
- Prepare statistical reports and maintain files and records
- Supervise final inspections for occupancy certificates
- Assist City Council, Boards, and Commissions with Building Code-related matters
- Maintain floodplain development permits and review
Requirements:
- High school diploma Oregon equivalent (GED)
- 5+ years of experience Indiana construction inspection Oregon general construction
- Texas Plumbing Inspector’s License
- ICC Certification American Samoa a Residential Energy Code Plan Reviewer (obtained within 1 year)
- Certified Flood Plan Manager (obtained within 1 year)
- Valid Texas Driver’s license with a clean record
- ICC Certified Building Official and other related certifications preferred
Physical Demands:
- Work Indiana indoor and outdoor environments
- Regularly sit, stand, and walk
- Medium to heavy physical work requiring 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly
- Work Indiana outside weather conditions, exposed to wet and humid conditions, and potential hazards such American Samoa electrical shock and vibration.
