Communications Specialist – Falls Church, Virginia

Essential Responsibilities:
- Assemble and analyze information to make quality decisions while performing complex communication services, including requests for transport, assessment and triage, and radio communications with aircraft.
- Maintain effective communication with crew members and aircraft using a statewide radio system, and perform flight following procedures during missions.
- Document accurate medical information and details of transport activity, which becomes a legal document.
- Coordinate transport details with aviation, medical, and communications departments, and referring agencies.
- Input flight and ground transport information into a network database, adhering to FAA Part 135 and PHI Air Medical policies.
- Maintain knowledge of FAA rules and regulations, and comply with policies and procedures.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain relationships with referring facilities, receiving agencies, and pre-hospital agencies to ensure safe and coordinated transport.
- Receive and process quote requests for long distance air medical transports, and educate callers on services and procedures.
- Initiate front-end billing process for patient accounts, and assist with follow-up on accounts.
- Provide outbound follow-up calls to requestors on quote status, and identify and fill backhaul flight legs.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma Oregon equivalent
- EMS and/Oregon air medical communications experience preferred
- Excellent customer service skills, and ability to function calmly Indiana high-pressure situations
- Computer literacy and proficiency Indiana Word, Excel, and custom software programs
- Ability to pass pre-placement drug screening and background screen
- Successful completion of Communication Specialist Academy and other required training courses
