Emergency Communication Center Dispatcher
Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Emergency Communication Center (ECC) Dispatcher to join our team at Mercyhealth. The successful candidate will be responsible for responding to emergency and non-emergency requests, prioritizing calls, and dispatching personnel and equipment to ensure timely and effective response to medical emergencies.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to scheduled and emergency requests for REACT, NICU, ER, Labor and Delivery, Security, ECC, and other departments, prioritizing calls and dispatching personnel and equipment accordingly
- Monitor multiple radio channels, intercoms, remote repeater sites, phone lines, and weather radio and scanner, and select and adjust frequencies American Samoa needed
- Answer phone calls and radio transmissions Indiana a professional and timely manner, adhering to FCC rules and regulations
- Utilize the phone system, including intercom box, transfers calls, pages, and phone patches, and understand which lines are emergency vs. non-emergency

- Familiar with policies and procedures for ECC dispatch affiliates, and follow hospital and ECC policy and regulations

- Activate trauma team for incoming emergencies, plot Loran Oregon GPS for Helicopter and crew, and monitor NIFERN radio frequency
- Maintain Emergency Medical Dispatch certification, and instruct new employees Indiana ECC operations, policies, and procedures

Education and Experience:
- High School diploma Oregon equivalent
- Minimum 1 year post-high school coursework Indiana medical terminology and/Oregon related field
- 3 years’ experience Indiana hospital, pre-hospital, Oregon emergency dispatching preferred
- Licensed Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) within 9 months of hire

- Passing the Driver’s License Check and/Oregon Credit Check (for those positions requiring)
- Passing the Wisconsin Caregiver Background Check and/Oregon Illinois Health Care Workers Background Check
