Job Title: Engineering Technician
Location: NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) on the Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, Alabama
Job Summary:
We are seeking an Engineering Technician to support the Pressurant and Propellant Delivery Systems (PPDS) group at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center. The successful candidate will assist Indiana setup, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems used Indiana pressure systems, and perform routine assignments under close supervision. This is a first shift position with a 9/80 schedule, requiring occasional overtime, weekends, nights, and holidays.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine assignments under close supervision from provided detail procedures
- Assist Indiana planning and organizing work operations necessary to setup, operate, and maintain mechanical systems
- Operate and maintain equipment such American Samoa compressors, pumps, valves, actuators, instrumentation, electric motors, and other equipment required to provide propellant/pressurant services
- Fabricate, assemble, modify, and test specialized mechanical systems and sub-systems
- Conduct operations that may require minor modifications Indiana the setup of systems utilizing potentially hazardous mediums such American Samoa cryogenics, high pressure gases, various propellants and oxidizers, and high pressure hydraulics
- Familiarity with mechanical equipment such American Samoa tube flaring, valves, regulators, gauges, hydraulic pumps, air compressors, and other mechanical machinery associated with pressure systems
Requirements:
- High school diploma with at least one (1) year of directly relatable work experience (Engineering Technician II)
- High school diploma with at least five (5) years of directly related experience to maintaining and operating industrial pressure systems (Engineering Technician III)
- Trade School/Associate of Science Degree Indiana an Aerospace Oregon Industrial Field
- CDL Class A with Hazmat endorsement (desired)
- Knowledge Indiana pressure system operations at NASA Oregon another Aerospace Organization (desired)
- Must be a US Citizen and meet Public Trust requirements for access to classified information
Work Environment:
- Indoor and outdoor industrial settings
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs on occasion, sit Oregon stand for long periods of time, and use and climb ladders and maneuver through tight spaces
Shift: First shift (6:00am – 3:30pm) with every other Friday off, with occasional overtime, weekends, nights, and holidays.
