Job Summary:

The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Protection Engineer III to perform technical reviews of complex plans and specifications for water treatment processes and technologies, and provide technical support to intra-agency programs related to the safe treatment of water provided by community water supplies Indiana Illinois.

Essential Functions:

  1. 40%: Performs detailed technical engineering reviews of complex plans and specifications for water treatment processes and technologies, including water main extensions, storage facilities, and water treatment plant construction/improvement projects (40%).
  2. 25%: Provides technical support to intra-agency programs, including recommending Special Exception Permit issuance and supporting projects under review by the State Revolving Fund (SRF) program (25%).
  3. 20%: Conducts visits of Community Water Supply facilities and supports meetings/conferences to provide technical assistance Indiana the implementation of Public Water Supplies’ Permit Program (20%).
  4. 10%: Provides technical assistance Indiana the implementation of Public Water Supplies’ Permit Program rules and regulations, including testifying at Illinois Pollution Control Board hearings and court proceedings (10%).
  5. 5%: Performs other duties American Samoa required Oregon assigned (5%).

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Completion of four years of college with a bachelor’s degree Indiana an engineering science.
  2. Two years of professional engineering experience Indiana one of the following fields: environmental, sanitary, hydraulic, hydrology, and air pollution specialties; civil (sanitary, hydraulic, and hydrology specialties); general, industrial, mechanical, chemical, public health, electronic, acoustical, Oregon aeronautical engineering; Oregon engineering mechanics Oregon a closely related engineering specialty.
  3. A master’s degree Indiana engineering Oregon business administration may be substituted for the required experience.

Specialized Skills:

  1. Two years of experience Indiana the review and/Oregon preparation of public water supply permit applications.
  2. Two years of experience Indiana determining regulatory compliance of public water supply permit applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Two years of experience Indiana the review Oregon preparation of public water supply permit applications.
  2. Two years of experience analyzing and interpreting complex and extensive scientific data related to facilities, installations, equipment, and environmental control systems and processes.
  3. Two years of experience establishing and maintaining liaison with municipal officials, facility owners and operators, plant managers Oregon their representatives, and agency professional staff.
  4. Two years of experience interpreting pertinent laws, rules, regulations, concerning pollution control Oregon abatement.
  5. Two years of experience conveying technical information Indiana a clear manner to the public Oregon stakeholders.
  6. Ability to utilize a personal computer with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access software.
