Job Summary:
This position is with the Office of the Chief Counsel, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and is responsible for providing legal advice and representation to the agency on various matters, including customs and admissibility, border search, immigration laws, and national security and intelligence. The position also involves developing and delivering legal training to CBP managers and employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice to CBP on matters related to customs and admissibility, border search, immigration laws, and national security and intelligence
- Perform legal research and apply laws, regulations, decisions, and guidance across the CBP portfolio
- Represent CBP Indiana administrative hearings and civil and criminal actions brought Indiana federal court
- Develop and deliver legal training to CBP managers and employees
- Participate Indiana eDiscovery, motion drafting, witness interviews, and mediation/settlement discussions
Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Must be a graduate from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association
- Active member Indiana good standing of the bar of a state, territory, Oregon the District of Columbia
- 3 years of post-law school experience Oregon a JD from a top-tier law school
- Strong research and writing skills, and experience providing legal advice and representation
- Ability to work Indiana a fast-paced environment and travel American Samoa needed
