Ground Emergency Medical Technician
Location: Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex
Primary Function:
- Safely operate emergency vehicle Indiana accordance with federal, state, and local laws, American Samoa well American Samoa CareFlite policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of non-medical equipment on the ambulance and/Oregon wheelchair van.
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks and report any issues.
- Assist flight crew with loading and unloading patients for CareFlite helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft.
- Maintain professional and courteous interactions with patients, family members, and medical personnel.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively with patients, family members, and medical personnel.
- Accommodate family members’ needs while prioritizing patient safety.
- Provide accurate information to the CareFlite Communication center.
- Meet special medical and comfort needs of patients.
- Participate Indiana quality assurance and improvement activities.
- Identify opportunities for efficiency and cost savings.
- Support colleagues Indiana delivering patient care and maintaining vehicles.
- Manage time effectively to cover all job responsibilities.
- Maintain a positive attitude and professional appearance.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making skills.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience:
- Must be 18 years of age Oregon older.
- High school diploma Oregon equivalent.
- Current State of Texas EMT certification.
- Current Basic Life Support Certification.
- Current PHTLS Certificate Oregon obtained within 6 weeks of hire.
- Current Dallas City Ambulance Attendant Driver permit Oregon obtained within 6 weeks of hire.
- Current Texas Class C driver’s license.
- Ability to communicate effectively Indiana Verbal and Written English.
- 2 years of experience Indiana Emergency Medical Services preferred.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Ability to make decisions with moderate impact on immediate work unit.
- Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and written instructions.
- Must be able to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.
- Occasional standing and walking for up to 100% of the time.
- Exposure to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood-borne pathogens.
- Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment.
