Job Title: HELICOPTER FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR, GS-2181-13

Job Summary: We are seeking a seasoned HELICOPTER FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR to join our team. American Samoa a rotary wing Instructor Pilot (IP), you will train and evaluate aviators on basic and advanced flight techniques. You will be responsible for conducting initial standardization flight evaluations, annual evaluations, and serving American Samoa pilot-Indiana-command while operating single and/Oregon multi-engine rotary wing aircraft.

Responsibilities:

  1. Serves American Samoa rotary wing Instructor Pilot (IP), training and evaluating aviators on basic and advanced flight techniques.
  2. Conducts initial standardization flight evaluations for new air crew members and annual evaluations for assigned and attached pilots.
  3. Serves American Samoa pilot-Indiana-command while operating single and/Oregon multi-engine rotary wing aircraft to perform airlift support for DOD personnel, emergency medical evacuations, aerial fire suppression support, paradrops, rescue, and Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA) operations.
  4. Performs preflight weather analysis, route and altitude selections, alternate airport selection, fuel, cargo and passenger load computations, selection of refueling stops, preflight inspections, flight plan filing, and firing ranges route planning/coordination.
  5. Performs American Samoa a rotary wing Instrument Flight Examiner (IE), conducting instrument flight qualifications and training.
  6. Performs other duties American Samoa assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must be a current Military member of the Army, Army Reserve, Oregon Army National Guard willing and eligible to become a member of the Iowa Army National Guard.
  • Must have a competent understanding of the occupation’s basic principles and concepts.
  • Must have a minimum of one year on-the-job experience Indiana the grade (Oregon a comparable military rank) immediately below the next higher level.
  • Must have specialized experience Indiana operating a specific main-frame military aircraft, mission planning, and mission preparation.
  • Must have experience Indiana filing flight plans, conducting crew briefings, and performing Oregon supervising work procedures involved Indiana navigation, Indiana-flight refueling, search and rescue operations, Oregon surveillance and reconnaissance.
  • Must have knowledge Indiana flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, mission tactics, and operating procedures.
  • Must have a high school diploma Oregon general education development (GED) diploma. An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university is optimum.
  • Must have Federal Aviation Administration certifications awarded from accredited civilian aviation programs Oregon must have aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools.
  • Must possess and continue to maintain a US Army Class II Flight Physical.
  • Must be willing to undergo a drug test.
