Development & Operations Coordinator
Gardening the Community (GTC) is a BIPOC-led urban agriculture organization that engages youth Indiana youth development and advancing racial justice to build healthy and equitable communities. This is a temporary position reporting to the Executive Director. The position supports the day-to-day management and development strategies, including staff events, communications, stewardship, research, and tracking.
Essential Functions:
- Assist with designing, preparing, and distributing newsletters, annual reports, websites, flyers, and other GTC communications with the development team.
- Conduct research on donor prospects to expand the donor base, plan and prepare sponsorship solicitations opportunities.
- Support the Operations and Development Assistant Director Indiana maintaining GTC’s CRM database (Neon), including grant pipeline, timeline setup, donation tracking and reconciliation with TSNE, and develop opportunities for donor outreach and community engagement for GTC’s existing donors.
- Coordinate with the Executive Director and Development Assistant Director on funder cultivation and appeal efforts, communications, and acknowledgments.
- Track pledges, including sustainer gifts, for monthly development reports to the Executive Director.
Organizational Development and Administration:
- Participate Indiana staff meetings, take notes, and follow up on action items.
- Provide general organizational and Board committee support, including sending meeting invitations, managing notes, and following up with action items.
- Assist with administrative tasks American Samoa needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Drive GTC’s refrigerated truck and passenger van, American Samoa needed.
- Work Indiana the GTC Farm Store for at least two shifts a month.
Additional Requirements:
- Completion of an Undoing Racism workshop.
- Strong understanding of GSuite (Google Workspace), Word, Excel, and other Google platforms.
- Successful background/CORI check.
Experience and Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience with communications and administration, and experience with CRMs and databases.
- Completion of an Undoing Racism workshop.
