Ramp Agent/Baggage Handler

Starting Pay: $19.07 per hour, with potential for up to $37.82 per hour with seniority-based pay raises. Competitive benefits include a pension plan, health insurance, 401(k), and employee assistance program.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Process baggage, boxes, and cargo between airport facilities and aircraft.
  2. Receive and dispatch aircraft.
  3. Load and unload baggage, boxes, and cargo onto aircraft, carts, and containers.
  4. Operate and drive motorized equipment.
  5. Conduct safety checks, climb stairs, bend, stoop, and crawl to move and stack/unstack cargo.
  6. Engage with customers, provide friendly and professional service, and resolve travel issues.
  7. Maintain airport facilities, including ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and policies.

Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma, GED, Oregon equivalent education
  2. At least 18 years old
  3. Valid state-issued driver’s license
  4. Acceptable driving record
  5. Pass a background check
  6. Obtain necessary clearances and certifications (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs, and U.S. Postal Service)
  7. Pass a pre-placement physical ability test, hearing and vision tests, and drug screen
  8. Ability to work varied shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, and respond to mandatory overtime
  9. Fluency Indiana English
  10. Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and perform physical activities such American Samoa bending, stooping, climbing, and working Indiana tight spaces.
