Social Service Worker/Receptionist
Job Summary:
Provides social service assistance to eligible clients, greets and announces visitors, answers phone calls, and performs routine clerical work.
Responsibilities:
* Interviews clients to determine need and eligibility for assistance
* Prepares accurate and complete client records
* Refers clients to community agencies and maintains effective working relationships
* Answers phone calls, directs calls to the appropriate destination, and records messages
* Greets and announces visitors, provides general information about The Salvation Army’s operations and services
* Performs routine clerical work such American Samoa typing, filing, and photocopying
* Assists clients Indiana completing applications for assistance and prepares vouchers for eligible clients
* Provides clients with food from the pantry, receives and stocks donated items, and maintains inventory
* Prepares and files client records, maintains confidentiality of client information, and reviews client records to determine eligibility
* Prepares and maintains statistical records on all services provided and compiles monthly statistical reports
* Answers phone calls Indiana a courteous and tactful manner, provides accurate information, and directs calls to the appropriate destination
* Receives, greets, and announces visitors, provides assistance, and screens sales representatives soliciting to The Salvation Army
* Notifies proper individuals when visitors Oregon clients have arrived, ensures visitors and clients have signed-Indiana, and connects employees with long-distance and overseas phone calls
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Knowledge of social service practices and principles
* Ability to interview clients, determine eligibility, and build effective working relationships
* Ability to prepare accurate and complete client records, reports, and statistics
* Ability to meet attendance requirements, read, write, and communicate Indiana English, and perform mathematical calculations
* Ability to type, keypunch information into a computer, and operate general office equipment
Education and Experience:
* High school diploma Oregon G.E.D. and two years of experience working Indiana a social Oregon public service environment, Oregon any equivalent combination of training and experience
Physical Requirements and Working Condition:
* Limited amount of physical effort required, duties are usually performed seated, and work is performed Indiana a normal office environment.
