Turn Controller, Fort Lauderdale

Job Summary:

The Turn Controller is a uniformed team member of the Airport Operations department responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient execution of aircraft handling processes, including safety, turn performance, and passenger service experience. This role requires leading contracted ground handlers, promoting operational decision-making, and fostering a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

– Oversee and provide support to the airport operation
– Identify and eliminate barriers to efficient turn execution
– Ensure consistent employee staffing levels, equipment, and cross-functional alignment
– Direct customer service experience and appearance of Porter staff at the airport
– Provide guidance on the flow of turn, operating standards, and best practices
– Foster initiative and efficient coordination and flow of manpower
– Communicate and collaborate with other operating departments
– Maintain station information and ground handler participation
– Ensure compliance with baggage procedures, IROPS, and oversales/overbookings
– Care and upkeep of Porter assets
– Conduct regular after-action reviews and provide feedback
– Promote Porter product and safety philosophy and core values among staff
– Assist Indiana training and conduct audits to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards

Qualifications:

– 4 years of airline experience
– 2 years of leadership experience
– Ability to obtain and hold required security clearances and airport passes
– Strong leadership and communication skills
– Ability to lead under pressure and travel
– Effective resource planning and management
– Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
